What has been obsessing my mind lately and what I have concluded  is why people simply do not think or the idea that they simply just DO NOT  know how to think.
Unfortunately, the common issue in today’s society is that we do not want to think, but the question of “why?” arises.  Do people not know what it means to think, do they not know the complexity that comes with having a good operating mind. The mind is a very powerful thing, a very powerful thing that can be wasted if not put to good use (like a talent). The concept of thinking is what gives you life as a human being. The concept of the mind is what elevates a human being, making them intangible in comparison to any other living creature. It’s a GIFT from God.
So what is thinking? The Webster’s definition of thinking means to have the ability to rationalize and reason. The ability to do so is what differentiates us from animals. Animals do not think. They do according to their nature and react to positive and negative stimuli. Thinking requires us to understand what we see, feel, smell and hear, which evokes emotions and in most cases our emotions can be a conquest to our thoughts. This just means that our emotions can indirectly be the guide that leads people to what we are thinking. Thinking promotes the usage of our brains, which is the most complex part of our body, but without the this process the brain will cease to  operate---and THIS WHAT I BELIEVE HAS SEEM TO HAPPEN TO THE MAJORITY OF OUR YOUTH POPULATION.
The single most important thing in life is learning how to think. Thinking can make way for opportunities both physically and mentally that will help further your advances in life. Thinking does not come natural because most people just turn on their reactors and start aiming them at situations, no rationalizing, no reasoning, and no evaluating of the pros and the cons submerged in each scenario. The first step to learning how to think is turning off those reactors along with your emotions and taking a second to take it all in. There is no possible way that you can EFFECTIVLEY think about something and not even have all the pieces of the situations. That is like trying to put together a puzzle and you don’t even have all the pieces necessary to complete it. This leads to the next step, which is having an open mind. Open mind doesn’t mean accepting excuses or foolery, it means being open to new ideas and possibilities the may come from other perspectives. Close minded people NEVER know how to think because they operate on a one way street. To those kinds of people there is only ONE way to do things…WRONG!!! If you take the time to listen and concentrate on the things going on around you, your view of life will change dramatically. The third step to thinking is evaluating. This is an important step of the process of thinking because if there is no weighing of the pros and cons of situations you didn’t think, you just had a delayed reaction .LOL. Realize that thinking does NOT always promote action- if it is necessary to react then do so but it may not always be useful. Sometimes thinking promotes a type of self gratification that cannot be obtained through a physical response.
A lot of the time my generation (as I am only 22 yrs old) forgets to take the time to think about the things we say and do. Essentially that results in the demolishing of ours brains because again if it goes too long without use and exposure it loses function (which is why you either have crazy people, people who are incapable of doing, and then on a much more broader spectrum people who just participate (saying and doing) in foolishness of all kinds).
Understand that being educated is not the same as being well-informed. You can have all the degrees you want but that does not mean that you are a great thinker, it just means that you know a lot of classroom information and you passed your classroom exams. As stated before thinking is a gift that God only granted to humans, so the idea of an individual wasting away something so sacred and powerful perplexes me. As young people, we chose to do and say the things we do because we aren't thinking. We don’t take the proper time to evaluate, reason, or rationalize things that are being said to us…WE JUST DO and that has created a tradition problem that only seems to worsen, because not only or we not thinking but we are teaching our children (through our shortcomings) not to think as well.
So it strongly irritates me when people my age say ignorant things, do ignorant things, and not take a stand against ignorant behavior. It’s simply the lack of thinking, so I strongly encourage young individuals to do a better job at rationalizing our situations before we get caught up into these situations that entrap us for years to come.
